Aberdare Country Club is built on the slope of the Mweiga hills in Aberdare highlands. It was established in early 1930 as a home to a European couple that had settled in Kenya. It was referred to as the “steep” before its name changed. In 2018 it won Africa’s leading green hotel award from the travel awards. It is 180km northeast of Nairobi, a 3 hours drive, 32km from Nanyuki airstrip, and 15 minutes from Nyeri town.
Aberdare Country Club’s main restaurant has highly skilled chefs who produce irresistible, mouth-watering European, Asian, and African dishes. Guests can have picnics in the surrounding green fields within the sanctuary. The lounge is spacious with comfortable sits and a fireplace to keep guests warm during cold nights.
Aberdare Country Club has cottages with a stunning view of Solio game sanctuary to the north, a view of Aberdare mountains to the west, and Mt Kenya views to the east. There are 19; 2 bedrooms cottages, 1; 3 bedrooms cottage, 1; 5 bedrooms cottage, 1; VIP suite and 2 deluxe rooms. These cottages are named Honey suckle cottage, Nursery Cottage, and Kinangop Cottage. They’re built in a luxurious colonial style and they have ensuite facilities, coffee/tea stations, fireplace and they are best for families. Some of these rooms can easily be accessed by physically handcuffed people
