Arijiju as its name reflects, ‘African haven’ is a private Kenyan sanctuary found on the eastside of Laikipia, in the Borana- Lewa conservancy. It is 10 minutes drive from the Borana airstrip. It was called the beautiful house in Africa by Conde Nast when he visited. It is has stunning views of the dense forests and sprawling desert to its north and the looms of Mt Kenya to its south. Its architectural design blends traditional Kenyan and contemporal European style.
Arijiju has an organic kitchen garden that grows the local herbs and vegetables. Beef and poultry are reared from the local farms. The main area has a candle lit lounge area, bar area, library, office and dining area. The chefs are determined to deliver a delicious and healthy dishes of the Ottolenghi cuisine which is a combination of modern, classic and local meals. You can make special request based to specific diets and exposure to outdoor dining’s. The dining area has 2 large fireplaces with floor to ceiling windows.
Arijiju has 5 suites; 3 suites are in the main house while 2 cottage suites are along the stone path. These suites have expansive views of its surrounding landscape. They are uniquely styled and furnished with king size poster beds, lounge areas, ensuite facilities such as showers. From 16th December- 10th January it can accommodate a minimum length of 5 nights while the rest days a minimum of 3 nights.
