Ekorian’s Mugie Camp was built by Josh and Donna Perrett in 2012. The name is derived from an old wild olive tree in Turkana language. It is located in northwestern part of Laikipia. It is found in Mugie conservancy, near Mugie dam, 1/2hours from Loisaba airstrip, 2 hours from Rumuruti road, 4 hours from Nanyuki and 6 hours from Nairobi. This is the only camp in Mugie conservancy and has an eco-friendly design.
Ekorian’s Mugie Camp has 6 tents raised on a wooden deck with papyrus roof. Tent 1 is a family tent and it has a kids annex. The rooms have ensuite bathrooms, hot and cold water showers, flushing toilet, organic and local toiletries and twin and double beds. The rooms are powered by solar to produce electricity. It was silver eco rated and blending with its environment.
Ekorian’s Mugie Camp has a communal mess tent with seating room, dining area, bar and reception. Enjoy homecooked meals with locally sourced ingredients from the small vegetable garden, local shops and Mugie ranch. Take your meals in the bush, by the pool, as picnics or in the dining area. Special dietary are well taken care of. There is no bottled drinking water. Rain water is harvested, boiled and filtered before being placed into the recycled water bottles.
