Ol Malo Overview

Old Malo is a property in an absolutely stunning setting in Laikipia. Owned and run by the Francombe’s, a multi-generational Kenyan family, the property has a fascinating history and ties to the local Samburu community, making Ol Malo an incredibly memorable place to visit. Ol Malo House and Lodge are beautifully situated with views out over the hills and valleys of Laikipia plateau. The Ol Malo is architected built by Colin and Andrew to give a luxury bush home feel to the guests.

The welcoming sitting room with its open fireplace has been privy to many evenings of story telling by The Francombe’s. The dining room has dramatic views over terraced lawns leading up to the edge of the escarpment and on a clear day, all the way to Mt. Kenya. Fresh ingredients are sourced from the ranch such that you can enjoy the tantalizing farm- table cuisine. Ol Malo house has access to a private chef and bartender. The meals are garmented and you can have a sip of beer, spirit or cocktails as you unwind the day.

From family reunions and celebrations, an exclusive buyout of the six bedrooms in the Ol Malo House is available for you. you can choose to stay at the Ol Malo Lodge, hosted by Ol Malo founders Rocky and Colin and best for couples and honeymooners, or at Ol Malo House, ideal for larger groups, families and active guests and hosted by Rocky and Colin’s son Andrew and his wife. Either way, you get the sense you are staying in a family home and enjoy all the interesting social and authentic benefits that go with it, in addition to private guiding from the family. The rooms are safari inspired , made of woods and local resources. They are decorated with Samburu beadings flares. They have high ceiling, woven thatched roof and natural stone walls.
