The Porini Amboseli Camp is a small, eco-friendly camp rated gold by Ecotourism Kenya. It’s located on the northern edges of the Amboseli National Park and has preserved the ambiance and atmosphere of traditional mobile camps from bygone eras. The camp runs on solar power, is unfenced, and nestled among Acacia Tortilis trees. Moreover, the Masai community owns and manages 99% of the campsite. Aside from the manager and head chef, all the staff employed here are Masai locals from the surrounding community.
The central area of Porini Amboseli Camp features a lounge complete with comfortable sofas and armchairs arranged around a coffee table stacked with books. There is also a dining area with a long wooden table and chairs for enjoying full English breakfast, three-course lunch, and three-course dinner. Watching the sunset while enjoying a snack is also a great way to relax. The bar offers a variety of soft drinks, local beers, house wines, vodka, bottled water, tonics, soda, and gin for guests to enjoy. Additionally, guests can request bush breakfasts, bush dinners, and packed picnic hampers.
The Porini Amboseli Camp offers 10 roomy guest tents that sit directly on the sand and feature traditional canvas covers and flying sheets. Each tent has a verandah with a canvas wooden director’s chair and table. Inside the tent, you’ll find thick rugs, double and single beds, clothes hanging areas, storage space, dressing tables, washstands, basins, mirrors, flush toilets, bucket showers, large fluffy towels, and white cotton bath sheets.
