Sarara Camp Overview

Sarara Camp is a hidden land of unparalleled beauty and co existence, perched on the rocky outcrop at the foot of Mathews range. Sarara means meeting place in Samburu language as this area is where the Samburu came singing as they dug the wells for water to their cattle. This traditional safari camp is located in Namunyak wildlife conservancy, 8 hour drive from Nairobi. It was opened by pier and Hillary Bastard in the year 1997. In 2010, Jeremy and Kattie inherited this land and became owners. In 2016, Jeremy and Katie were the co founders of the Reteti elephant sanctuary.

Sarara Camp main mess tent is used for communal dining. The seating area, open air ding and bar overlooks the pool rock. Start your say with hearty breakfast in the mess tent, enjoy a delicious buffet lunches under the shady trees and dinner on the pool terraces. Water is sourced from the pure mountain springs. Foods are kept fresh in the charcoal store. You can opt to carry a picnic package or a request to enjoy bush meals in the wilderness.

Sarara Camp has 6 spacious, luxurious and beautiful tents. These tents are made of materials such as canvas, wood, thatch and stone. They are considered double rooms and twin rooms.
