LOCATION; Shaba National Reserve is located in Isiolo on the east of Samburu. The park offers a scenery and a rich diversity of wildlife. It is famously known as the land of born free stems from the legacy of joy and George Adamson, who nurtured Elsa the lioness on the grounds of Shaba before setting her free on the plains beyond. The Sarova Shaba game lodge is located in a natural oasis of the Ewaso Nyiro river in the Shaba national reserve and offers complete serenity between the wild and its beautiful surrounding. It is located 314km from Nairobi in Isiolo, on the east side of Samburu county. It is a 4 star lodge in a very hot climate and dryness of 28’C during the days and warm nights and the only lodge found in the Shaba national reserve giving a family friendly environment to its guests.
AMENITIES AND FACILITIES; Sarova Shaba game lodge has an eye captivating lush gardens, Tulia spall which is in charge of your wellness and massage services varying from holistic, Swedish, Indian, to aromatherapy. The conference facility can accommodate up to 100 delegates who can be offered secretarial assistance, personalized coordinators, Wi-Fi, audio vision equipment’s, pens and writing pads. There are also other amenities such as the hiking trails, jacuzzi, lounge, wildlife water hole, laundry services, parking, room service, gift shop, luggage stores, water dispenser and a picnic area. Sarova Shaba game lodge offers a unique package of weddings and honeymoon. The wedding events are arranged and well taken care of by the staffs. The newly married couples are blessed by the elder of the Samburu where they are later offered by a legal marriage certificate. Honeymooners are offered a luxurious suite and travel packages within the surrounding reserves as they enjoy their intimate soul time.
ROOMS; Sarova Shaba lodge has 80 standard rooms, 4 executive suites and 1 presidential suite which sums up to a total of 85 rooms. All these rooms are fitted in with mosquito nets, private balcony, ensuite bathroom with showers and toilet, WC, running cold and hot water, razor outlet with 220 and 240 volts, , beds, overhead fans, tea and coffee machines, bedside table, housekeeping, viewing deck and a writing desk.
DINING EXPERIENCE; starting with the Surpelei restaurant which overlooks the river and the swimming pool, with a capacity of 150 people offers buffet meals with pan African, pan European and pan Asian cuisine, not forgetting the amazing fresh salads from the vegetable and herb garden of the Sarova Shaba game lodge. The chemichemi bar by the water springs offers alcoholic drinks to its guests with a relaxing view of the waters as they can just feel and vibe with the rhythm of the waters. The pool side bar offers cocktails, mocktails, fresh juices in the relaxant view of the swimming pool. The adventurous dining is the outdoor, where guests can enjoy either; Champaign breakfast by the riverbeds with live cooking chefs; riverbed sundowners with a glass of juice or cocktail; riverbed bush diners; romancing under the stars at the pool area; Riverview garden lunch; boma dining; private dining upon requests or the snack bar.
ACTIVITIES; There are several activities one can engage in while at the lodge. These activities are such as; game drives in Shaba national reserve and Samburu national park, climbing through the unchartered terrains of the reserve or the surrounding community lands for guided experiences, take a ride on the camel safari as you view the scenic Shaba landscape, down a rugged, exciting road creating memories, feeding of crocodiles on the banks of their river fronts, visit the Samburu village and watch beautifully beaded and decorated morans performing cultural dances and songs and you can also have a riverbed dining along the Ewaso Ngiro river banks as you watch the starlit skies.
