Located in Tsavo West National Park, Severin Safari Camp is one of three tented camps in the area. It is situated between Mzima Springs and the Tsavo River and is owned by a German couple. The camp is approximately 250km from both Nairobi and Mombasa, 58km from the Mtito Andei Railway Station, and just a 30-minute drive from Kilaguni Airstrip. As the campsite is unfenced, guests are escorted by 24-hour Masai security guards from their tents to the main areas for safety.
The main area of Severin Safari Camp features a lounge area with comfortable sofas, a bar with bar stools, and a dining area, all with beautiful views of the surrounding bush. The ingredients used in the meals are sourced from an organic farm. Breakfast is served buffet-style, while light lunches are available a la carte, and 4-course dinners are served at the Out of Africa restaurant. The Thorn Tree Bar offers a variety of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, at an additional cost. Guests can make a request for outdoor dining, and the staff will be happy to accommodate.
At Severin Safari Camp, you can choose from a variety of accommodations to suit your needs. There are 21 luxury tents, 4 junior suites, 2 executive suites, and 8 self-catering Banda’s. The luxury tents offer a comfortable stay with canvas cloths, hot and cold running water showers, separate toilets and bidets, comfy beds with mosquito nets, private terraces with camping chairs, hairdryers, and a safe.
For those looking for more space and luxury, the junior suites are named after popular landmarks such as Mzima Springs, Roaring Rocks, Chyulu Hills, and Shetani Caves. These suites come with king-sized beds, separate living rooms, mini-bars, coffee makers, sundecks with loungers, private courtyards, outdoor showers, and spacious sun-flooded bathrooms with two hand-washing basins. Families with two children can enjoy the extra space and comfort these suites offer.
The executive suites come with a raised observation deck with loungers, offering a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. Lastly, the Kitani Banda’s are perfect for those who prefer a self-catering option and can accommodate up to 3 people. These Bandas come with a fridge, table, chairs, plates, pots, cutlery, glasses, cups, gas, and washbasins, making it a convenient and comfortable stay.
