The Ark Lodge is located 180km from Nairobi which is a 2 hours 30 minutes drive and 10km from the Aberdare country club. By air, it is 45 minutes to Nanyuki airstrip with 45 minutes transfer to the Aberdare country club which is the checking-in point. This lodge was built with a resemblance to Noah’s ark and is connected to the entrance with a wooden drawbridge. No private vehicles are allowed in here and the Yosabara waterpoint attracts animals making it easier for guests to view animals at all times.
The Ark Lodge has several viewing points; inside, outside, and underground. there are 4 decks with magnificent angles; A, B, C, and D. Deck A has glass off-viewings at the lounge. Deck B has an open balcony that is above the saltlick and the waterhole. Deck C is an endive glass-off lounge, a nonsmoking room with views of the water hole. Deck D is best referred to as photographic hide and best positioned to capture the memories and it is an underground viewpoint. There are 60 ensuite rooms with ensuite bathrooms, room services, bedding, free bottled water, shower, and toiletries. The rooms on deck C are easily accessible by wheelchairs. There are 6 single rooms, 37 twin rooms, 8 double rooms with queen beds, and 9 triple rooms used by families. Laundry is done at the Aberdare country club.
The Ark Lodge offers a communal dining experience with a buffet setup. The food is made from fresh and organic vegetables that are obtained from the Aberdare country club garden. Hot drinks are served at night and there is the provision of afternoon tea and cakes. Picnic is done at a salient place in the park and lunches are eaten at the Aberdare country club. The charming rustic bar is well stocked with a collection of drinks from the Ark cellar. The lounge area has a large stone fireplace that provided warmth during chilly evenings.
