The Ol Pejeta Conservancy is one of the largest conservancies in East Africa. It is located in the Laikipia ecosystem and it offers various activities that can satisfy your travel. These activities are such as

i) Bird watching

Ol Pejeta Conservancy is listed as an Important Bird Area (IBA) and has over 1000 different species of birds such as the secretary birds, black-winged lapwing, Hildebrandt starling, ostrich, and rosy-throated long claw among others.

ii) Wildlife viewing

You will experience the best game drive at the Ol Pejeta since you will have the opportunity to see the famous well-known big five which are; lion, buffalo, rhino, leopard, and African elephant. There is also other wildlife such as the giraffe, hippos, zebra, cheetahs, hyenas, and wild dogs. For the last decades, there has been an extinction of the white rhinos. It is the home of the most endangered Southern white rhino and Northern white rhino. Ol Pejeta has taken the initiative to preserve and protect these endangered species of rhinos. For the treasure of the rhinos to Ol Pejeta, they carry out a memorial service at the rhino cemetery when a rhino dies. Its also considered to be the biggest black rhino sanctuary in East Africa. These are types of apes that are known as the cleverest of them all. This is because their thinking ability is much closer to that of human beings. For historians, they’re seen as an evolutionary stage of mankind. Chimpanzees are rare species of apes and are only found at Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Kenya. iii)Ol Pejeta junior rangers

This is a fun session for children aged 4 and 12. Ol Pejeta sells a junior ranger pack inclusive of an activity booklet, crayons, and stickers. The main aim behind this is that throughout your tour, you get to answer questions and play games in the activity booklet. Towards the end of the activity, the children go to the moran information center and they’re asked to recite the rangers oath as they get gifted a ranger hat, honorary pin, and a certificate for participation

iv) Morani information center

This is referred to as the insight of day to day routine of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. It aimed at giving more information about the animals found in Ol Pejeta for a deeper understanding. It gives more details from anatomy to behavior for better learning

v)Dog tracking

This is a 2-hour game encouraged by the game wardens to the visitors. Visitors are to evade sniffer dogs then run, jump, and seek hiding places in within the moran information center as the dog sniffs them out. As much as it’s a fun game, it’s always the best practice to maintain the dogs’ skills. The visitor is always advised to wear clothes of neutral color, closed shoes, a hat, and carry sunscreen.

vi)Riding with rhinos

These are morning and evening rides within the endangered species enclosure set aside by the Ol Pejeta Conservancy. The rider is accompanied by a knowledgeable staff of the Ol Pejeta Conservancy horses. You’ll go through the recovery area for the white rhinos, view the last 3 remaining northern white rhinos in the world, through the endangered gravy zebras and Jackson’s hartebeest, white rhinos, and the myriad of plain game. the ride will conclude with tea and cake at the moran information center restaurant. ONLY experienced riders are allowed to take this horse ride and you must provide proof of that.

vii) Lion tracking

The lion gets fitted with radio collars and you will help to track down collared lions using the receiver and gather information about each pride member and the data that you will gather goes directly to the Ol Pejeta monitoring unit and they’ll help you to find possible solutions to the challenging of the conservancy’s lion.
